Because we offer our courses to people around the world, we must maintain a privacy policy that complies with different local legal requirements. If this policy doesn’t give you the information you need, please get in touch.

I am Kenneth A. Adams, operating through my single-member limited liability company, Adams Contracts Consulting LLC.

The information we collect and what we do with it

When you register to take a course on our site, as part of the registration process we collect some personal information—your name, your email address, the name of the organization you’re affiliated with, and your occupation. You do not have to give us this information but, if you don’t, you wouldn’t be able to take the course.

We use this information to deliver our services to you, and to bill you for them. We also use this information to help us know who is taking part in our courses and to assess how to develop and promote our courses.

To keep you informed, we might send you emails about our courses and Ken Adams’s activities. We would include an unsubscribe link in every email we send. We might also email you a survey to allow you to tell us what you thought of the course you took.

Thinkific will receive your data

We use two main service providers to assist us in delivering our services to you—Thinkific and Stripe.

Our course and site is hosted by Thinkific Labs Inc. They provide us with the online course-creation platform that allows us to offer our courses to you.

Your data is stored through Thinkific’s data storage and databases and the general Thinkific application. They store your data on a secure server behind a firewall.

For more insight, you may also want to read Thinkific’s terms of service here or privacy statement here.

Stripe will receive your data

If you make a purchase on our site, we use Stripe, a payment processor. We never see your payment data. Payments are encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction.

All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our site and related courses and its service providers.

Others might receive your data

It is possible, although very unlikely, that a court or law enforcement might ask us to disclose your data.

If we wish to take action against you to—for example, to address your failure to pay, or to enforce our rights—we might disclose your personal information to others, for example lawyers or debt-recovery specialists.

If our site or course is acquired or merged with another company, your information might be transferred to the new owners, who might to contact you.

Where we process your data

We are based in the United States. When you register for one of our courses, we will process your personal data in the United States.

Certain providers might be located in, or have facilities located in, one or more jurisdictions other than your jurisdiction and our jurisdiction. If you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of another service provider, then your information might become subject to the laws of the one or more jurisdictions in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

For example, if you are located outside the United States and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction might be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act.

Retaining your data

We will retain your personal data for three years.

Your rights

At your request, we will do the following:

send you a copy of your data

If you’re dissatisfied with how we are handling your personal information, you may complain to an authority that oversees data protection. But please talk to us first, as we think we would be able to address your concerns quickly and amicably.
